Voices of Water
Water is the ‘life essence’ of caves. Not only is it responsible for the formation of caves and most of the mineral formations within them, but also for introducing sound and movement into the otherwise silent and static realm of rock and darkness. Cave water has many voices, ranging from the splash of a droplet hitting a stalagmite, to the ploing of a drop when plunging into a cave pool, to the tickle of streamlets and the roar of underground torrents and waterfalls. However, I will have to leave it to your imagination to picture those sounds.
